Praying Mantis Photos III

Mid-September is a great time to find the praying mantis. There are still plenty of insects for the mantis to prey upon, but the flowers are starting to go away... leaving the mantis population more condensed in the areas where colorful plants still happen to attract prey. One of the best places to find a mantis is near the purple flower of a tall thistle plant because the mantis often waits there for food, and because he's easy to spot with the human eye while on a thistle.

I'm looking specifically for a photo showing a mantis on a standing-up car tire. Any help? Thanks for your help. Joe

Sorry it took so long to respond. I don't have a photo of that scenario, sorry. But if I have an opportunity to shoot that, I shall.
