What if We Ran from Iran

I recently listened to former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu talk about the threat of Iran. In the discussion there was note of the parallels between Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Germany's infamous Adolph Hitler. After listening to the talk I went to the Iranian government’s website to cipher some of their propaganda. I was very shocked to feel that Netanyahu is probably correct in drawing lines between Hitler and Ahmadinejad.

Almost immediately I noticed that the Iranian website puts a lot of emphasis on the youth of the country—and it has a National Youth Organization. America, too, has youth organizations… but the Iranians seem very intent on pumping their dogma into the children’s minds. Hitler, too, made extensive use of the naivety of youth to instill his twisted morality on young people.

Ahmadinejad’s government even has a cabinet set aside for "Martyrs and Self Sacrifice”. That’s pretty disturbing. All societies have hero worship… but this goes to show the fanatical scope of the current Iranian regime.

One of the spookiest things on the Iranian website was a statement that draws a straight line from the fanatical suicide mentality to the youth group brainwashing: "President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad here Monday in a message, which was read at the ceremony to commemorate Martyr Mahmoud Shahbazi, said that martyrs serve as models to the third generation of the Islamic Revolution. A report released by the Public Relations Department of the Presidential Office said that the message, which was read by presidential advisor for youth affairs, hoped that the sincere efforts to introduce the martyrs to the youth will further succeed to make them their models.”

Ahmadinejad is making his disdain for Western civilization very explicit. In fact, he is also making his delusional ideals apparent, as he "added that world nations now expect answers from Islam and Iran as to ways of bailing themselves out of their current problems.” What world is he talking about? Is it the world of fanatics who actually think he is divinely appointed?

Ahmadinejad is letting us know that his country is on the verge of acquiring of nuclear power. He also states quite explicitly that Israel and the West are evil and "Satanic”. He praises suicidal followers…

One of the most poignant things that Netanyahu pointed out in his talk was that deterrence has worked in the past to keep enemies at bay because the leaders of the past have been sane. A sane man will not tell the world his plan to annihilate an enemy, especially there would be immediate self destruction from a return volley of nuclear weapons. But Ahmadinejad (like Hitler) is not sane… he is religiously pushing for Armageddon. You cannot deter Ahmadinejad and his ilk because they embrace death, suicide and destruction as moral dictates of their cause.

Hitler, too, told all the world of his plans to annihilate the Jews. World leaders did not take his threats seriously because they were sane—Hitler’s words seemed like propaganda rather than policy.

I am afraid that there is no win-win solution to the conflict of Western civilization and Radical Islam as defined by the Iranian regime. I am afraid that the moment Ahmadinejad gets his hand on nuclear weapons, the world we have will slip away into a foggy memory. Ahmadinejad thinks that anyone who does not pray to Allah must die because we are a scourge to the universe.

I say that if America ignores Ahmadinejad or runs away from the threat of Iran, then America is turning its back on free society totally. Whatever the reasons were that led America into Iraq, and whatever reasons led to Islamic hate of America… it’s all academic now. Big things are happening that have put two nations and two dichotomous cultures onto a collision course that will not have a happy ending. The question is which side will have the happier ending? Unfortunately, I think America's own philosophy will keep us from answering that question in action before it gets answered for us--we want to grant freedom to all, even when they threaten our own freedom.

Below are some quotes from the Iranian Website. I am not going to honor their site with links… so find them on your own or trust me to quote honestly.

  • President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Islamic culture and Persian civilization is void of any oppression, injustice and aggression.
  • He added that world nations now expect answers from Islam and Iran as to ways of bailing themselves out of their current problems.”
  • President Ahmadinejad said that Iran is today one step ahead with the passage of each minute and just one step remains to nuclear climax.

Addressing a group of locals, Ahmadinejad told the ill-wishers of Iran to get depressed and back down instead.

We advise them to choose friendship with the Iranian nation, otherwise they should know that humiliation and abasement is ahead.

  • President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad here Monday in a message, which was read at the ceremony to commemorate Martyr Mahmoud Shahbazi, said that martyrs serve as models to the third generation of the Islamic Revolution. A report released by the Public Relations Department of the Presidential Office said that the message, which was read by presidential advisor for youth affairs, hoped that the sincere efforts to introduce the martyrs to the youth will further succeed to make them their models.
