I've had issues with a lexar card as well. I've emailed Lexar's customer support and apparently the card was fake. Another card had issues with lost data and was sent to Lexar for firmware update. Did not experience any issues since then

Hi Shawn, good for you that you are not letting them bully you. This is a totally silly lawsuit! I also have had contact from the Cambridge Who's Who and I went through the prideful emotions that you did when they praised what I am doing. I also went through the disappointment and shock when they said there were charges, after the initial mailer had said it was a free recognition. You're right and it looks like there are MANY of us who totally agree with you! Hang in there and if you want letters written to support you, post on your site where to mail them to. I am sure that many of us would write about our own experiences if that will give you support.
Sincerely,
Sandy Widstrup

I agree this is a scam. My wife received one of the letters and quickly asked her boss (an attorney) if she was the one who had nominated her. And her boss replied "NO"
So my being the legal analyst that she is asked me to do a bit of research. Me being the a former anti-virus industry worker was able to perform a bit of research.
First, there Cambridge site is hosted by a company outside the US.
This indicates they do not want US law on them except when it is there favor. Many Gambling sites use this technique. Second in my opinion and
what I heard from my wifes boss is that in CA there is a ban on Deceptive advertising practices and thus if a letter has the words "No Cost" then the fees and services should be provided at "NO cost".
Lastly My wifes boss mentioned Mail Fraud, Mail fraud occurs when a letter is sent committing any other crime, i.e. Deceptive advertising in CA. Mail fraud is considered a felony.

Todd

Thank you for posting this article. I receive an email saying someone nominated me to be a member of who's who of blah blah. I entered my info skeptical, but curious to find out if someone actually nominated me.
A woman call me today regarding my nomination. This sounded too good to be true. Obviously, It was. Glad my ego isn't as big as my skepticism.
Thanks again

I too received this invitation to be included in the Cambridge Who's who registry.. The funny thing is, I am not a writer, do not own my own business, am not active in the community etc.. I haven't done much that would be considered 'notable'! So obviously I had chalked it up to being junk mail. However upon receiving this 'invitation' I googled the name just for the heck of it and located your site! I just found it extremely amusing that someone would want to include me in some database. The only reason I can think that this was addressed to me is that I obtained my real estate license last year in my state, and since then have gotten an influx of junk mail. Thanks for the great info and good luck on your trial!

THANK YOU,THANK YOU,THANK YOU> Just recieved it in the mail... Cambridge WHOS WHO... People just can't seem to figure it out... there are actually intelligent people in this world... people that can figure things out. I myself have accomplished many things in my life, things I am proud of, things that I hope have earned me the feeling of many noble accomplishments. I like myself,I am proud of myself, I am curious why anyone would fall for this scam to make themselves feel any less proud of themselves?

Hurray for you!! I wish I had said the same thing last night. For those trying to defend the poor sales man these people are manipulative liars that don’t give a rat’s ass about your time or your finances.
We’ve listened to time share salesmen, gutter guard, water softeners, sun room additions, and more and these people reach a new low that I have never seen in anywhere. At least other sales people actually make an appointment with you so you have some idea of what to expect. We ended up going to bed after 2:30 am because it took so much of our evening and they snuck out of the house with our “free gift” so in our case they also steal. There is nothing ethical or admirable to what they do.
For the person who thought this gentleman should have said he was not interested and it is late. We tried that last night. It doesn’t work!! We had our 2 year old up at 11 pm and I was begging them to let me go so I could sleep. Just try politely refusing a Kirby salesperson and I think you’ll understand this gentleman very well! Some salespeople really are evil.

Thanks a lot for posting this. I received their letter in the mail today and thought that it might be a scam. I did a web search and found your web sight and several others suggesting that it is, indeed, a scam.
Here's another site: http://www.ripoffreport.com/reports/0/203/ripoff0203539.htm
Again thanks a lot. I hope they drop this stupid law suit against you. They are blatantly disregarding your freedom of speech. People need to be told about scams such as this.[ See Responses ]

i agree that parents are not parenting. i think this is a core issue to the abhorrent actions that children as well as adults engage in. i grew up in the 50's and 60's. warnings such as wearing a bicycle helmet did not exist when i was a child. i do not recall severe head injuries due to bicycle accidents. likewise violence in elementary school was rare. of course no one thought of bringing a gun to school. we were not an angry, aggressive generation. cruelty and thoughtfulness were not acceptable social norms. unfortunately now society accepts values and behaviors that would have been shunned when i grew up. i believe that parents must help their children put the world they live in, in a perspective. yes bad things exist and no you do not have to be a part of them. there is too much acceptance of negative behavior as good. how did society change to worship "the ends justifies the means?" when did the means become unimportant?

How ironic. I too submitted a poem to the same website you did although mine was about 5 year ago. I didn't buy anything from them either. I just patted myself on the back and went about my business with great skepticism. I also received a letter from http://www.whoswhopublications.com about my daughter. I was and still am skeptical because of the poem so I searched and found this. Do you know if the one mailing me is legit or is it another scam? Also I'd like to say I'm sorry about what is happening with you and I hope they're joking. I don't see how speaking your mind is against the law and informing others of your mishaps. Sure, slander maybe but if the shoe fits, wear it! If it doesn't then their good name will hold true whether you (or others) speak your mind or not. You haven't hurt anyone and people choose whether they want to read what you wrote. That should be end of story. Oh and 7 million..please! As if. I guess their sales weren't that good after all huh? or they wouldn't be trying yet another scam like suing you. Uh oh, this post of mine must be worth at least 2 million hehe

I've received more than one email from Madison. The first one some time ago was intriguing, but there was a familiar odor surrounding it. When I received the third one today, I Googled them and ended up here. I was not in the least bit surprised. Anything that is good, such as the internet, will soon be flooded by scum. I was scammed by a phony coin dealer back in 1967 and lost almost $500 in cash. I learned how to spot con artists early in life. Thanks for standing your ground.

I got the Cambridge letter. I got one last year from "Metropolitan Who's Who." I'm not positive they are associated, but they have exactly the same logo, letterhead, intro. letter etc. I called last year and inquired. They wanted hundreds of dollars for a plaque and an extended bio in the book, etc, etc. I just filed the letter (which said I was already selected) put it in a file and wrote up my own press release and sent it out to my local papers. I got all the "honorable mentions" of being a Who's Who and didn't get robbed. I recommend to anyone who gets these letters, just add it to your personal spin machine for publicity. If you have the letter that says you're in there, the publisher is responsible for it.
