If the script does work, you need to explain in further detail what is required.
Your own script doesnt work on your own page with only a different server and the source 100% intact, that's no good.

Thank you for posting this. I received the same letter (not email) from M. Foster, Editor in Chief... the name now is Cambridge Who's Who... I did not gave any information but I am very curious as to how they got my information to send me that letter home. This is clearly a scam! No need to sugar coat it as these lawyers have asked you to do. I too will be happy to speak for you should it come to that. They are spamming... What do the lawyers think about that?

If you right click on the IE icon on your desktop and click on properties/Compatibility/Priviledge level,put a checkmark in "Run this program as an administrator" You can also click on the security tab and give yourself full control

I am sorry that the script was temporarily broken. While loading an update to the JavaScript file, it appears that there was corruption with the file. I have reloaded the file... so it should work fine now.[ See Responses ]

Is there an error in the code on this page:
http://www.shawnolson.net/scripts/public_smo_scripts.js
where the code reads:
}iteCheckRound]);
What is "ite"?
Thanks,
Patricia

I have just updated the script to add rules when the properties you want to set are not in the CSS. This may have been your problem when setting values with a dash. However, I could not replicate the dash problem in IE7 or Firefox 2. Could you let me know what browser and version is having that problem?[ See Responses ]

Your script doesn't seem to work on any CSS properties that contain a dash (background-color, z-index, border-bottom-color, etc). Is there any specific reason for this? I'd like to be able to use this nice, simple script to move around the z-index of certain elements on a page.

Your a horrible rider. Nice touch with smoking next to your horse at the last picture, too. I'm sure that won't damage his lungs.
Find a better hobby. -_-;

Whew, thanks for your post. I got the email, filled out the info, and got a call today setting up an "interview" for tomorrow. Then I started getting suspicious and found your posting. Now I know what to expect. Or rather, I will not be answering the phone tomorrow!

Shawn:
I just got an invitation from Cambridge Who's Who. Fortunately, I've reached a point in my life where I can recognize when something at least seems amiss. My first thought was, since I work for a very large, very well-know international corporation, their asking my about my organization (where I've been for over 20 years) was a bit suspect.
So I did what I usually do in a case like this. I didn't bother going to their website. Rather, I Googled their name. Your blog was one of the first I came across.
I'm sorry you've had to go through the hassle an unscrupulous company and an overzealous (online? Sheesh) law firm put you through. As a proud holder of a Juris Doctorate who has chosen not to practice law (for what should be obvious reasons), I'm ashamed that a large percentage of the legal profession cares little for justice and lots for money.
While I can only hope that part of the settlement was the requirement all the principles (and the legal team) bend over and kiss your ass, I can tell you you've helped me save the aggravation of telling these people to get lost.

Oh my god - I was doing research on Cambridge's Who's Who because they called me for an interview and I was going to meet with them tomorrow. But now I will not be showing up to the interview. I could never work for a company that does this type of business. It's shady and I could never sell a product like this to someone and then to actually be rude to people is just disgusting. So glad you posted this information. I would have wasted my time tomorrow. Thanks again!

I was recently trying to find out about this particular lizard when I came across this site. Great pic but I am still not clear as to whether or not this lizard is poisonous. I have one that gets on my porch and I'm afraid of it. Is there something I can do to keep them away? Thanks for the help!!

Thank you for standing up to those misguided and foolish "business" people. They are not just misleading but malicious too. Reading your article was like reliving my expereince. The girl talking to me tried to bait and switch me too... she kept talking about payment after assuring me that registration was free. Their methods are contemptuous in any industry, and even more in theirs where they are purporting to have integrity and are supposed to be recognizing accomplishment. I would have people do what I did, turn it around on them when they call and ask specifically why they picked you and why they think you are accomplished. I kept saying that I am very interested to know what they know about how accomplished I am. I said that if they really wanted to convince me that they are worth my BIG name to be in their little publication, then they will have to prove to me that they have done their due diligence to be selective in the inclusion of names. She just kept resorting to her script about trying out the service and how I wanted to pay. Silly. But not too funny. Big waste of time for people and dishonest gain for them!

I recently bought a Canon EOS 400D(3 days ago) and I have already got the err 99 message. It came only when I used an old Sigma zoom lens and took photos outdoor in daylight. I searched on the net and tried the pencil eraser method, but it didn't work.
After trying for some time, I found out that the message didn't come if i used an aperture level lower than f5.6. I then checked my lens and also found out that the lens was only made for aperture levels between f4 and f5.6. I switched to the manual modes and set the aperture level lower than f5.6 and it all worked fine.
I think it may be a communication problem between the old lens and the brand new camera that caused this problem. Maybe the camera didn't know that the lens couldn't get higher than f5.6.[ See Responses ]

I think something is wrong with your code... I have tried this on other websites and received 4/6 for staying and 7/3 for switching.... but on this one I am 17/17... I was also 10/10 and 5/5.
