Guestbook and Other Upgrades
As of December 17, 2003, all guestbook entries on the Artistic Network log the IP address of guestbook signatures. This helps the site protect against abuse and harassment on the site.
An IP address is a unique address each computer has while logged onto the internet. The IP address will allow us to block visitors who abuse the site and users. Each member can view the IP address of all signatures in their guestbook when they are logged in and viewing their guestbook.
Other recent upgrades include Javascript validation for deleting articles and user accounts from the site. Before this upgrade, a member could have deleted all their articles, guestbook entries, photos and biography by accidentally clicking the "Remove Account" button on the User Modification Page. Now, if the button is clicked, a confirmation window pops up allowing accidental clicks to be canceled.
