Always Welcome Inn - Winter

Our family returned to the Always Welcome Inn near Killbuck, Ohio between December 12-14, 2003. We didn't do any fishing this time because the ponds were frozen with ice, and it was too cold to go hiking through the woods as we did during our Summer visit. Still, we had a great time.

Those upstairs got a pleasant surprise during the first morning--a troupe of around thirty wild turkeys crested a nearby hill. Unfortunately, I was not present at the moment to photograph the display. I did find the tracks afterwards, though.

Owner of the Always Welcome Inn Nancy Miller spent some time talking to me about the area. She recently lost her beloved husband Del, and she was feeling a little lonely. She shared some of her beautiful wildlife photos, including pictures of deer, pheasants and local fungus. I didn't get a chance to see her photos of a rare orchid growing in the area.

The kids had a great time frolicking in the snow, and the adults enjoyed hovering around the fireplace to talk about good old times.
