Spider Pictures
Many people in this world don't realize how beneficial spiders are. Beyond their bizarre look (which merits respect in a photographer's handbook), they eat insects that are pests.
The large orange-legged spider you see here only lived a few hours after this photograph--not because of inclement weather or bigger predators--but because one of my friends (who I will leave unidentified) thought the spider was too big. It's a shame, since the colors were very vibrant, and I'm sure its size required it to eat many insects.

Spider crawling through grass... its fangs are menacingly large.
This jumping spider near Big Darby Creek is eating a leafhopper.
Another spider found along Big Darby Creek. This spider was so small that it could hide out in the seeds of grass.
This giant spider measured over two inches in diameter. It's vibrant colors were amazing. I was annoyed to find it killed with spray only a couple hours after I got this shot.
