Don't Go
More faded thoughts
peel from my plastered walls.
Phantoms like to carve names
across my doors.
Murals crack
and dust falls
dust feathers my eyes.
Whose chain binds you?
The shackles on my heart pull
and my life begins to tear.
Why can't you come home?
The questions in my mind cry
and I shake down to the bone.
Just want to hear...
Your laughter somewhere near...
Remember all the things
thought I forgot to say
But I hear as the mourner sings
that those words weren't forgotten--
but selfishly hidden away.
Please don't go... don't go...
Please hold on for another day.
