SMO.net Password Update

I am uploading some major update to the SMO.net tonight that will allow members to retrieve lost passwords. The revisions also include a new direction in SMO.net information collection and security.

I have refrained from using cookies in the development of this site. This has been due to a certain trepidation about storing information about this site on a remote computer; it is also because many people regard cookies as an infrigement on privacy.

The SMO.net will now start storing a few cookies on members' computers. These cookies include only information that is relevant to using the SMO.net. They do not store personal information.

The new scripts for retrieving lost passwords required some changes on the SMO.net database. Becuase of these changes... all old passwords have been updated with random passwords. Members who joined prior to the publication of this post must retrieve their passwords from the Lost Password Page, even if they have not lost their passwords.
