You Know Who You Are
Before I post this poem, I have to tell the tale behind it. I wrote it in high school when my best friend Mia was upset. She felt that her other friends never listened to her or understood her feelings. I gave this an anonymous title so that if any of them got a hold of it they wouldn't know it was about them for her: so that's why it has such a dumb name. I got an A on it when I submitted it for a creative writing project in college, though.
So, here it is....
The very best friend I ever had
It burns my heart to see you sad
If I could, I would cry your tears
I'd take away your sorrows, I'd steal your fears
Your life seems to leave you drained
Your hopes seem to leave you pained
Feelings are unfair
Why do you bother to care
But I will care for you, I always will
And if the whole world hates you, I would love you still
I'll never turn my back, never run away
My ears will always listen to what you have to say
And if you ever need me, I won't be far from you
I'll always be standing with you, in everything you do
So, here it is....
