Design Updates
I have loaded new updates to the site earlier this morning that will, I hope, make the site a little more appealing to visitors. A short list of the updates follows:
- New Navigation method that relies entirely on CSS and does not use JavaScript. The old method (developed by my friend Andrew Penry) served the site well for a long time but I wanted to make one that is less resource-hungry. The process of researching the best way took me to dozens of tutorials and forced me to hack this out... but it means that I could cut out a large portion of JavaScript from every page. Unfortunately, I could not get it to work in Internet Explore 6 or less... but since IE8 is on the way... I opted to live with the limitations.
- New Flash menu at right side of every page. This menu is meant to direct visitors to partipate in interacting with the site by signing up for the newsletter, going to the guestbook or sending me an email. Some of the modules in that menu require Flash Player 10.
- New site logos. I updated the logo completely. I also created Holiday logos that will appear during various holidays throughout the year.
- The site has been widened to 1000px. This change has given me more room to display content. I made this choice because the number of visitors to my site using 800x600 screen resolution is now very insignificant.
- Reorganized and increased the number of Ads on the site. While this may seem annoying to some visitors... this move was done for the obvious reason--to generate more revenue to compensate me for all the effort in maintaining this site.
If you are experiencing any problems with this new design, please let me know what is happening.
