Flies on Cattails
I know that flies are not romantic insects. And I also realize that these photos aren't exactly the most earth-shattering photos of insects. However, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to photograph such a consistent theme of photos while out taking a walk in the nearby marsh--it seemed that the dried head of every third cattail had a single denizen in the form of a fly. I don't know if they were basking in the sun, laying eggs or simply enjoying the last weeks of insect survivability.

A fly hanging around in cattail fluff.
A fly near the pinnacle of a cattail. Had this been a human I could have talked symbolically about reaching goals and surmounting challenges... but this was only a fly... and it could just fly to the top or away or anything else a fly might do.
